Brassica oleracea, Nero de Toscana - Black Palm Kale, (1885 - Italy) A great multipurpose Perennial kale - young, purple-tinged, green leaves are tender enough for salads, while great cooked any number of ways at any size. As the weather gets colder the leaves tend to become purplier & lose a little succulence but this firmer texture suits the season - they need a little more cooking & are robust enough to take to stronger flavours such as chilli & garlic. Plants grow to around 60cm, are happily harvested using a cut & come again approach & will grow well through the winter., Seed Count Approx - 275 avg SOWING - Select a sunny location & sow in the spring as soon as the ground can be worked. Plant again in late July & Aug/Sept for fall & winter harvest. For best results, loosen the soil with a fork, fertilize, and smooth it with a rake. Firm soil over seed and keep moist
