Zea mays, Vibrant Yellow-Orange Kernels, 110 days, Evidence of Popcorn has been traced back to ancient Native American Tribes and although seldom grown in Northern Europe, popcorn can perform very successfully across most of the continent. 'Robust' is the best variety for adaptability across a range of climates and has bright yellow-orange kernels and is an exceptionally good-eating popcorn with a thin hull for easy popping. Very productive with long ears on tall stalks. It must be dried for 3 to 4 weeks before cooking but otherwise easy and fun to prepare. SOWING - Early sowing indoors is best in early spring Late Feb to May, indoor or under cloches in pots with good protection, A warm windowsill is best, Sow 1.5cm deep one in each pot. Keep warm & water lightly, DO NOT OVER-WATER, Germination approx 7-21 days. Plant out in block formation May-July, into well-cultivated, fertile soil, when frosts are over. Harvest Sept to Oct just as tassels start to show.
