Solanum lycopersicum, Indeterminate, Beautiful Dark Colours, 75 days. Originally part of a breeding programme in the US that crossed wild tomatoes from both Peru & the Galapagos Islands to breed a tomato full of healthy antioxidants, This vigorous indeterminate produces clusters of 5-7 x 3 cm Cherry sized round beauties which offer up a thin skin & a lovely, mellow, sweet, bright plummy flavour when fully ripe. At its best when the glossy, blue-purple shoulders turn a slightly muted purple-brown & the green parts unexposed to the sun turn red which actually brings on the sweetness. The tom can also soften a bit, just like other tomatoes left on the viine. Best in a greenhouse although a sheltered spot outside with plenty of sun will also do.
