Decaisnea Fargesii, Blue Sausage Tree

Decaisnea fargesii - Blue Bean, Blue Cucumber or Blue Sausage Tree. A hardy deciduous shrub of Chinese origin, forming clumps of tall, upright shoots with large leaves, themselves ornamental, up to 1 metre in length. The somewhat unusual flowers are attractive, yellow-green in colour and appear in early summer in drooping racemes up to 45cm long. However, the main reason for growing this plant is for its quite remarkable broad-bean like metallic-blue seed pods, filled with black seed. Full sun to part shade.  Priced for: a 5 litre pot
