Chinese Hawthorn. This cultivar lives up to its name as it produces unusually large fruits which resemble crab apples when ripe and are high in Vitamin C. The young foliage is coppery in colour, the flowers in May are a delicate white colour and the autumn foliage is a warm shade of red/brown. Unlike our native Hawthorn, the branches are virtually spineless. This small tree is best in full sun, where the fruit will fully ripen. A good choice for wildlife. Eventual height and spread to 4 metres. Priced for an open ground maiden tree

Use: Make jams and jellies
