Pyrus communis. Rootstock quince A (semi-vigorous). Culinary variety. First recorded in 1665, this is the very best of the culinary pears. Very large round green fruit flushed with red. Cook slowly for a pale pink puree with a lovely flavour, or poach for a delicious soft pear. Pick in September, use from January until April. Needs a pollinator (Group D). Priced for a 2 year bush
