Diospyros kaki. This is a popular, heavy-yielding Italian astringent variety producing large, sweet orange fruits with soft, juicy flesh harvested from October to January. It is cold-tolerant down to -15°C. Sunny position in well-drained soil. Eventual height 3 to 3.5 metres. Priced for a half-standard bush
Use: It has a sweet delicate taste and can be eaten whole, similar to a plum or apple, sliced into fruit salads, or can be added to smoothies, desserts, and breakfast bowls
