Brassica oleracea Italica Bianca - (aka: Early White Eye) A very early, uniform variety which produces a prolific crop of deliciously fresh, tender sprouting sweet white spears. It is a very early variety which will produce delicious tender spears from February/March. The heads of these very productive and handsome plants should be harvested when still tightly in bud, along with their leaves and stalks, which can also be eaten. These can be grown on most soils. SOWING - Historically a cool weather crop. Sprouting broccoli can be sown during summer or in late winter for a head start on an autumn harvest. To achieve the latter, sow broccoli seeds in trays kept in the greenhouse and plant out in April once the ground has thawed. For a later harvest to stretch into winter next year, sow seeds in situ from April to July. (Clay is fine)
